🔨 Nail Your Outcome
If you don’t know what impact you want to make with your podcast, then don’t have one. Impact is what you are using your show to help you with. Typically a business has three core objectives it’s looking to achieve, and your podcast can help if you are intentional.
Core impact objectives:
Brand affinity
Relationships and revenue
Retention and recruitment
Once you are clear on your desired impact—which by the way, can change over time—you then identify the outcome you’re going to tie to that impact. These outcomes are the measurable goals letting you know whether you’re making the impact you’ve set out to achieve.
Here’s an example:
Impact: Relationships + Revenue
Outcome: Maximize your content opportunities by engaging with customers and strategic connections. 7 out of 10 episodes in this season will include an ICP as a guest.
💥 Now its Time to Maximize
You’ve got your impact + outcome statements. ✅ Now it’s time to get creative with how we reach those outcomes and make that impact.
Here are some of our favorite strategies and tips to maximize your show with an outcome in mind.
1. Brand Affinity
✂️ Cutting Room Floor Content: It’s not useless! This is great bonus content or can be used straight on social (or YouTube) to keep fueling the content machine.
💡 Utilize Tech (Yes, AI): We’re talking maximize that content with the help of technology. More with better is key. Use the conversation from your show to experiment with new channels, amplify existing channels, and empower your internal and external brand ambassadors. (🤖We’re launching a beta group to see how much more content we can create with podcasts with the help of AI. Shoot Rachel an email if you’re interested.🤖)
2. Relationships & Revenue
🎙️ Interview Tips: For guests that fit your ICP, build a few discovery questions into your interview. A prep call is a great place for this because you can use it as an opportunity to learn more about your guest’s business.
👥 Network Growth: Ask your guests for recommendations for more guests and networking connections. Relationships turn into revenue.
3. Recruiting & Retention
😎 Showcase Core Values: By capturing core values through content, you’re showcasing them not only internally, but to prospective employees and more. This creates opportunities with others who share those values—from a hiring perspective to sponsorships, partnerships, and beyond.
🎙️Featured Voices: By featuring the stories and voices of many people throughout the company on your show, you create a greater sense of camaraderie and shared sense of purpose.
